System Requirements: Pentium 75 MHz, 8MB RAM, Win95 If you love your PC but want a top-notch platform shooter that rivals anything on the consoles, Earthworm Jim is for you. It’s fresh, it’s fun, and best of all it’s a challenge that provides hours of high-energy arcade action. These little touches may not add up to much on their own, but Earthworm Jim pulls it all off with a style that’s unmatched in most videogame conversions. During the many multi-tiered levels and bonus rounds, you’ll have to become skilled at everything from maze navigation to a Zaxxon-style shoot-’em-up aboard Jim’s famous Pocket Rocket. Instead of piling on level after level of jump-and-shoot nonsense, Earthworm Jim has some truly bizarre variations on classic PC and console titles. Shiny Entertainment deserves a lot of credit for designing a game that presents a unique brand of tongue-in-cheek style of gameplay. But the thing that sets Earthworm Jim apart from most arcade titles is that it features some of the most bizarre, challenging and hilarious antics in a side-scroller. Sure, you jump around a lot, collecting things, working your way through mazes, and shooting tons of bad guys before you move on to the next level for more of the same. Isn’t Earthworm Jim just another side-scrolling platformer? Yes and no.
